During our recent trip to Luxembourg City, Luxembourg we decided to check out the Auchan Market and mall. We heard it is the French version of Walmart. While it did have a ton of stuff, it sure didn’t have the Walmart prices we are used to 😉
There is a parking garage conveniently located under the mall, the parking is free for the first 3 hours. You can get a shopping cart in the garage and take into the mall or wait and get one outside the supermarket. Also remember to take in your reusable bags as well.
The mall itself is pretty small compared to many US malls. View of the mall from the food court end, you can see all the way to the opposite end.
The food court was tiny with limited choices and kinda spendy. We paid €7 for a bowl of plan spaghetti noodles for our daughter. However the €6 chicken kabob wrap was pretty tasty.
The supermarket is on 2 floors of the mall. The top floor has clothing, electronics, & household goods while the bottom floor has all the food and drinks. The above photo is a view of the first floor.
Some of the clothing items, you can even see some Americana shirts. They also had Levis & Converse but they were expensive in Euro.
A good sized pharmacy section is available here as well.
Toys, gardening, and Electronics. If your looking for the escalator down stairs, go back through the garden section toward the back of the store, we had to ask how to find it.
We were trying to figure out how the carts stayed on the escalator, they are magnetic! You don’t see these in West Virginia or Idaho 🙂
Large selection of fresh produce. However we bought a big pomegranate and when we got home and cut into it we found it was rotten, so that was a good $5 for nothing.
They even have a small ‘fish market’ area where you can order fresh fish, shrimp, etc. It smelled just like the fish market in Japan!
The cheese section was a popular one, so was the deli section. Tons of cheeses to chose from.
Check out these huge wheels of parmesan!
Looking for chicken feet? Look no further…they have them here, LOL! They also had gizzards which would make my Dad happy but they were uncooked.
A fairly good selection of gluten free products so this may be a good store if you have those kinds of needs.
And of course you cannot have a french supermarket without a mass section of wine! Even had ‘bartenders’ providing samples.
We left the store with some bread, several different chips to try, and a few other treats. We did this visit in conjunction with the Bock Casemates and the Luxembourg American Military Cemetery. I wouldn’t necessarily drive all the way to this small for shopping but if I was in the area I may stop by.

We haven’t been to this store, but we have been to a CORA in a mall in Luxembourg. Prices were a little higher there than at the CORA stores we’ve been to in Belgium and France. In Belgium, we sometimes go to Carrefour and Colreyt in Malmedy–about as far away from here as going to Lux. City. Our favorite is Carrefour in Thionville, France, just this side of Metz. It has the best prices overall and is great for really inexpensive French wine!
