We were looking for a place to eat along the parkway and we’d seen the Best Italian Restaurant, then we asked for recommendations at the Visitor’s center and the lady told us it was good, so off we went! We were wanting to visit a locally owned place and not a ‘chain’ because you can visit those anywhere, this place fit the bill.
As we found with all the places on the Parkway the prices are a bit inflated, it cost us $80 for a family of 5, that was with Mr. B & I splitting a meal & the younger 2 ordering from the kids menu, but the portion size here was huge! Our waitress was super friendly and did a great job.
Everyone liked what they got to eat and if we were in the area again I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
Their garlic rolls were amazing! Although you really need to like garlic because they are saturated with it! The kids thought they were too overpowering but Mr. B and I happily gobbled them all up.
I got the Chicken Parmesan to split with Mr. B and it was more than enough for two people. Bub & Bea got the kids Fetticini alfredo and Boo got a cheese pizza, which was huge for a medium.
Then despite being stuffed we decided we needed to walk along the parkway and find some dessert, we have a thing for trying desserts ;p
As you can see the Parkway was crowded with both people and traffic, and crossing the road in the walkways that were not at stoplights was like living a real life version of frogger!
Freshly made taffy was on display for those who wanted to stop and watch for a bit.
We stopped here to get Bea some homemade ice-cream, I had a taste and it was so good! Mr. B got some taffy.
Bea enjoying her ice cream cone.
Bub wanted to stop here for some White Cheddar popcorn, it was ok but lacking a punch of flavor, the flavor was super light. Also the shop was tiny and there were too many people inside for me, I waited outside with the other 2 kids.
Boo wanted a carmel apple from here, I skipped that after eating one at Universal last year and then not feeling well. This was the most expensive place to buy one, as we found after the fact, LOL!
I got a Mayfield’s hot fudge sundae, which won’t surprise those who have been on dessert runs with us before ;p
We also hit the Beef Jerky Outlet and picked up some cheese curds, something we haven’t seen since a long time ago in Idaho, they were good but way too salty, and $8! Not the same as the ones from the Cheese Factory that used to sell them in Idaho.
A random fact we stumbled upon…if your looking for a Hillbilly Wedding look no further…guess it’s an East coast thing, says this West coast girl, LOL!!
Overall dinner was great, I’d recommend stopping by the Best Italian restaurant and giving it a try if your in the area, it was probably the best place that we ate while on our trip. Boo said his favorite of the trip was their pizza, Mr. B & I chose their Chicken Parm as the best thing we ate on the trip. Make sure to save some room in your ‘dessert spot’ as Bea calls it and check out all the goodies along the street as well!
