Hong Kong is an amazing place to visit and I highly recommend taking advantage of being so close while here in Guam! I’m sharing my Hong Kong 4 Day Itinerary to hopefully make your planning a little bit easier. There is so much to see and do there! I’ve also included costs for those who are over planners like me 😉
This is just the overall itinerary, I’ll be doing a post for each day sharing more in depth info and how to’s in those posts.
We left Guam at 10:20 pm which had us arriving in Hong Kong at 1 AM local time. Apparently this is a popular time to arrive as we had to wait in line for an hour to get and that was after the 45 mins to get through the customs line. The line did move constantly so it kinda ‘felt’ fast waiting on customs & the taxi. Trains/buses don’t run at this hour which is why there is a huge back up. Had we known we would’ve moved a little faster getting to the line then sent someone back to grab some snacks while we waited. Taxi ride was around 35 mins and 338 HKD/$43 which isn’t horrible for our family of 4 plus baggage, and it is faster than the train (when it’s running).
Due to the early arrival we paid for 5 nights at the hotel so that we’d have a place to go crash for a few hours before our first day of sightseeing, this was the BEST decision! We stayed at Kew Green Hotel Wanchia Hong Kong , its a 4 star British themed hotel and we had a fantastic stay! We paid $1194 for 5 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment (3 beds). It also came with a buffet breakfast, daily bottled water, and free use of a Smartphone. We were also able to check out portable battery packs for free as well. We also enjoyed people watching and scoping out the daily life in Hong Kong from our window view.
After we got some rest and ready to go check out Hong Kong this is how we did it:
Hong Kong 4 Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Saturday, Kowloon area
Walking around Kowloon, Hong Kong museum, Tin Hau Temple, Jade market, Temple Night Market. Ferry ride back to see the city lit up, this is a Must Do!
Day 2 – Sunday, Big Buddha & Tai O areas
Ferry ride, bus ride, Ngong Ping, Big Buddha, Wisdom Path, Monastary, Tai O fishing village – a MUST DO!
Day 3 – Monday – Ocean Park Day
We were there when it opened at 10 am & were done around 4 pm. Don’t miss the cable car ride here, it’s fantastic!
Day 4 – Tuesday HOLIDAY – (Ching Ming Festival) – Central/Victoria Peak
Central to Mid level escalators, Man Mo Temple, Hollywood Road, fruit market, Victoria Peak, Tram riding.
Day 5– Wednesday – Headed back to Guam
Check out by Noon & took a taxi back to the Airport.
Public transport in Hong Kong is so easy to use and so cheap! It makes getting around so easy to do! We also enjoyed being able to eat all kinds of food. We had some tasty Mexican food while there! Something that is lacking in Guam.
We were able to save on costs with food by eating the free yummy breakfast at the hotel and by shopping the supermarkets for snacks and some food at the hotel. We got strawberries for $3, what a treat compared to $7 in Guam!
We also managed to avoid getting suck in long queues by avoiding the crowds and doing some of the off the beaten path sites & routes, I’ll share more about that on the daily itinerary posts that will be coming up.

Airfare – (we flew Hong Kong Express, 4 adults (our teens counted as adults) $775.16
