Summer is coming! Are you having a Military Family Summer Staycation? Find New Roads Near You This Summer! Summer is a great time to get out and explore around your local area and keep costs low. Here are some great ideas for making the most of your Staycation!
Visit your local amusements parks, zoos, and waterparks for some fun day trips. You can easily spend half a day to a full day at these places. Some of them even have discounts when you get season passes so see if getting a season pass will benefit your family.
Check to Bowling alleys, museums, and science centers for some indoor air conditioned fun for a break from the heat. Often during the summer places like this will offer discounts on certain day for school aged kids, see what yours has to offer.
Local parks ands and splash pads can provide some low cost fun. Also the city swimming pools can be a great hang out on hot days. Pack a picnic lunch and spend a few hours playing at the park or lounging by the pool.
Backyard camping can provide a great break in the routine combine it with a campfire or grill for s’mores and you’ll add a little extra to the experience. Camping in the yard can provide kids with a sense of adventure while leaving Mom’s like me close to home and the much needed amenities…you know like plumbing 😉
Find the hiking and walking trails and try one out, do some research to find which one is the best fit (difficulty, etc) for your family. You can even take your dog with you to so they don’t feel left out during the staycation.
Paintball, Laser tag, or Adventure rooms can provide a bit of excitement for your staycation! You can work as a family or break up and challenge each other. For added excitement you can invite friends along, the more the merrier right?!
Geocaching is a great way to take advantage of a Staycation and Find New Roads! All you need is a GPS and an adventurous spirit. Use the geocachign website to find locations close to you, write down the coordinates and head out to find them! This is fun for all ages! Start with easy ones and work your way up to the harder ones.
