Scavenger Hunt Adventures is a great new series I’m excited to share with you! It currently includes; Mission Paris, Mission Barcelona, and Mission Rome. These are must haves when traveling in Paris, Barcelona, or Rome with kids. I’m also excited that the author, Catherine Aragon, is a fellow military spouse!
The books are available both in print & digital forms. The digital forms (e-book) include Kindle, B&N Nook, & iPad. I love that it’s offered in multiple forms but I’m a book in hand kinda gal so I prefer the print versions. I would say if I was using the digital version I’d just take screen shots/photos of the missions for each day on my phone, or print them so I didn’t have to carry my electronics around with me.
I had the chance to review Mission Paris, unfortunately it was just after we got back from Paris, but if we go again I’ll definitely take it for Bea to use. I love how the book provides tidbits of information about each place and allows several ways to earn ‘points’ to complete each mission. Not all tasks must be done to compete the mission, which allows you and your child to pick & choose which ones you want to do.
I’ll share some photos below of examples the Mission Paris book, I’ll also provide a link to an album so you can preview the other books as well.
A ‘pre-briefing’ of Paris…
Check to see if they can identify some local landmarks.
Notre Dame, which has a total of 31 points that can be earned, Bea could’ve completed all of these if we had the book during our trip. Another great thing about the book is that it’s an easy read and not only does it provide fun facts and information for your child, I found the information interesting as well.
We seen the gargoyles but I had no idea there was one munching on grapes!
These missions help to make sightseeing fun and exciting for kids. We’ve seen many Cathedrals during our 6 months in Europe and they are not the kids favorite type of sightseeing, this book helps to make Notre Dame more than a ‘boring’ cathedral visit.
After your child has completed the Mission Paris (or Mission Rome or Mission Barcelona) you can go to the Scavenger Hunt Adventures website and print a certificate for them. While I don’t think my 11 year old daughter would need a certificate I think it’s a cute idea for kids who would enjoy that, for her she’d be happy enough just having the book & knowing she got enough points.
I think this book is so fun! It’s great for kids of all ages, while my older boys (13 & 16) may or may not have said they were participating in the Missions they do like reading facts & information about the places we’re visiting and I’m sure they would’ve helped Bea look for the required items. I’m excited to get the Barcelona & Rome ones as I know we plan on visiting these while we are in Europe.

I love this book! It looks awesome! We don’t have kids but this seems like something we’d enjoy doing, sans kids anyway!

It really is a fun book and could be a neat ‘date’ idea for couples sight seeing as well 😉 Choose a location, and try to complete all the missions for that location or something similar.

I forgot to add which book I’d choose! I’d choose Paris, because it’s a city I’m most excited to visit!

I’d love the Rome book. We are planning a trip and the book would be a perfect solution to keeping our young kiddos engaged!
