These pictures are from the last years (2007) Misawa Summer festival‘s parade. It’s neat because they carry these huge floats down the street. Some of the floats are a bit creepy with the huge fake ‘people’ but others like the Stitch one are really neat. Check out the linked site for more information on the parade. The lady with a cart is selling ice cream.

Fukuchi Water Park
We went to Fukuchi water park in Hachinohe today, it’s about 45 mins to 1 hour from Misawa. Much closer than Kenji world (3 hours) and cheaper too. It was only 1000 Yen for adults ($10) and 500 yen ($5) for the kids. The restaurant there was okay, it had some weird (Japanese) food choices but the kids were happy with white rice and french fries, plus for 300 yen you could get an all you could drink [Read more…]
Earthquake!
Wow last night (or should I say this morning) at approx. 12:26 am we were woken to the biggest earthquake we’ve felt yet here in Misawa! Praise God no one was hurt here locally and there was no major damage! Needless to say waves of terror went through us as we bolted from bed and ran to grab the kids and head downstairs.
