Photography – Placement to Emphasize Subject
For this assignment I was to use large size and off center placement to help emphasize the subject. I really over thought this one and it took forever to figure out a photo to use, I decided on this one:
I do have to say that this was one of the ‘assigmenments’ that I struggled with and hadn’t really practiced this specific technique before, thankfully I got it done and approved by the instructor, [Read more…]
Abstract Photography
I’ve been wanting to try these pictures for awhile, but finally made myself do so today 🙂
Amazing what water, oil, colored scarves, & food coloring can produce! These were taken with my camera NOT produced in Photoshop.
I originally tried to take them using a tripod, but had issues with focusing/distance so I just handheld the camera. I did these without a macro lens, I just used my 18-55 mm lens. [Read more…]
Photography – Leading Lines
For this assignment I was to use leading lines to draw attention to my subject. I know that railroad tracks have been used over and over BUT I wanted to use them and put a little twist on it 😉
Truthfully was scrapping the bottom of the barrel trying to come up with ideas for leading lines around where I live, the railroad tracks are literally across the street and behind our house, yes it does make [Read more…]
Supermoon
Last night the supermoon was here and I thought for awhile that I would miss it like the lunar eclipse due to visibility but I did get to see it after all! I wish I’d been out when it was rising but I only got pictures of it in the night sky.
Photographing the supermoon was a bit easier than a ‘normal’ moon as I felt like I didn’t have to zoom as much and it was bright and well lit.
Photography – Framing
This was a fun assignment! I was to used framing to focus attention on my subject.
Truthfully I was stumped about this for awhile, then I happened to be out taking a picture for another assingment and happend to be in the right place at the rigth time for the idea to pop in my brain 🙂
Here is what I used:

Newborn Photography
One of my biggest desires in taking this photography course is that I will be able to offer newborn photography services sometime in the future. So far I’ve had 2 sessions to practice, the first was a HUGE learning curve and the second went a bit better…I feel like I’m making slow, yet steady progress 🙂
My friend lent me her 50mm lens this past week for my 2nd newborn shoot and I LOVED it! I’ll [Read more…]
Photography – Creating Distance with Depth of Field
For this assignment I had to use a great depth of field to create a feeling of distance. I really struggled with what subject to use for this assignment, and finally decided upon using the museum items that is literally across from my backyard.
While probably not super ‘exciting’ I felt confident that it would be ‘unique’ from the normal stuff my instructor gets 🙂
