Recently we stayed at a hotel near the town of Schwabach Germany – what they call The Goldsmith Town. I decided that since we were in the area we had to check it out. This is not one the the towns that you’ll find in the big travel books but it has some unique features that make it worth a quick visit. Recently we stayed in the Holiday Inn Express Nurnberg-Schwabach in Schwabach, Germany. There were similarities and differences compared to staying in a US hotel. It was our first experience staying in a German hotel and we left satisfied with the experience. The room was $115 for 1 night and included a free continental breakfast.

Since we arrived in Germany nearly 7 1/2 weeks ago we’ve been itching to get to a castle and explore! Unfortunately most of the castles seem to close at the end of the year until April. Luckily with some research I was able to find Vianden Castle in Luxembourg that is still open! So we made the 1 hour drive to check it out. Almost a month ago we moved into the Wiedenhof Palace, what is called a German ‘hotel’ off-base but it really little furnished apartments. When you move here you only get 15 days on-base in TLF, then you have to move off-base.
