Here is some info about the places we visited and links to where you can find more detailed info as well.
Dorthee’s Glass hut, you can read about our experience HERE. We ate lunch and did the glass museum to see them blowing glass vases.
Sommerrodelbahn Gutach was a fun experience for the family! We love alpine coaster’s although our 12 year old was bit intimidated by how high up it was. You can read more about it HERE.
In Triberg we parked in the parking garage off of Haupstrasse and then visited the House of 1000 Clocks and the Triberg Waterfall, you can read about the waterfall HERE.
At the House of 1000 clocks you can see the large laminated bears outside on the roof. It also has the largest cuckoo clock inside right when you enter on the right, although the mannequin standing next to it is fairly creepy.
They have all kinds of cuckoo clocks but I have heard it’s best to shop around as the prices can be high here, we bought our cuckoo clock years ago when we visited from Iceland so we were just looking around.
The huge cuckoo clock, it was hard to take a pic of with my large camera in the small space.
After the falls we headed to Pinnochio’s Pizzeria to grab some dinner. It was a great choice for yummy food that was reasonably priced. Our family of 5 ate here for €40. You can read my TripAdvisor review here.
I loved this wooden statue when you enter.
The Black Forest cake here was yummy and reasonably price at €3,50.
We then ran by to try to see the World’s Largest Cuckoo clock in Schonach but knew we’d be cutting it close to the closing time. We didn’t make it in time and you can’t really see anything without paying the low admission fee, so we couldn’t see the clock part on the back of the house. It’s a house that has been turned into a cuckoo clock so it’s probably worth a visit if you can squeeze it in.
We then headed to our Apartment near Europa, which was great! The review for it is here it’s the top anoymous one because I haven’t figured out how to update the user name yet.
The next day (Memorial Day) we spend at Europa which is normally a great day to go on American holidays but it was also a German holiday unfortunately so it was a bit more crowded than I expected. It wasn’t horrible but not as short of lines as we are used to. I’ll be posting a review about it soon!
After a day at Europa we drove the 3.5 hours home, which wasn’t bad at all. It was a great way to spend a short 3 day weekend!

Do any of these places take credit cards like VISA?
Mrs B says
Yes, we used our credit cards (Visa/MC) all over Europe. Most do take CC but we also have Euro with us as well.
Kim says
Is a full day at Triberg enough time to cover the main sites? Is it easy to get round the sites without a car? There are no children travelling with our group.
Mrs B says
Sorry for the delay, was in the States on Emergency leave. It depends on what you want to see. We wanted to see things outside the city area like the glass blowing, house size cuckoo, etc. Those would require a car as I’m not sure there is public transport to easily get to them. If your just visiting the town and the falls, one day is fine and walkable.
