Each and every year my amazing friend goes all out for her twin’s birthday parties, this year it was a Super Hero Birthday Party. It turned out so stinking cute! I wanted the share it with you so you can be inspired if you too are planning a Super Hero Party!
She was able to successfully pull all this off by spending a few hours scouring the internet for ideas, using a silhouette, and some time invested in putting it all together. I think it turned out amazing, as her parties always do 😉 I’m so proud of her for using her Silhouette, we’ve been teaching her new things trying to get her to use it more often and she did really utilized it this year saving herself TONS of time! Love my Silhouette!
I’ll start with the main table area and work my way out from there. The above banner and stars were cut using her Silhouette Cameo and then hole punched and strung to hang up. For the banner she cut the triangles, letters, & ‘pows’ and then used double sided tape to assemble them.
She bought these cool tin signs to hang up, they are $12.99 each on sale at allposters.com , she’s generally pretty thrifty like me but she splurged on these because she planned to hang them up in the boys playroom after the party. She bought 4 as you can see in the first pic in the post.
We made these city skyscrapers and buildings by covering boxes with poster paper. We were also expecting a bit of wind so in order to keep them from moving around we put canned goods in the bottom of each box, 4 cans in each. To make the windows she cut 2 in x 2 in black squares with the Silhouette, around 130, she used most of them but not all. Using double sided tape she attached them to the covered boxes.
I LOVE these! She bought the rainbow swirl suckers from Oriental Trading. Then she used the silhouette to cut out these masks and capes, that allowed her to have the eye holes cut out as well. They are standing up in a foam block (Dollar store) covered in paper.
The cake & cupcakes were bought from Publix, she had the polka dots matched to the colors scheme she was using. As always it turned out super cute but did involve some drama with the Publix bakery…as happens every year 😉
She printed & cut out the cupcake wrappers & stars to put around the cupcakes. The cake boards are just boards covered in paper with a circle & star in each corner. She also used some silver shred around the cake stand base.
I really love the cake topper decorations! These were done by her, not Publix. She print & cut a large number 5 which she then tapped onto a skewer. My favorite part is the stars though! I so LOVE these! Using the Silhouette to cut out the stars she then attached them to 20 gauge bead wire. ($5.99 at Hobby Lobby but you can use a 40% off coupon). We had read about using floral wire but she didn’t want it to be green, I think the silver looks great!
Number 5 candles on the Birthday Boys’ cupcakes. Colorful candies in plastic candy dishes (Dollar Store).
Now moving onto the seating area. This is where the kids could work on their craft, color, and eat.
They rented the tables & chairs from Outdoor Rec on base as well as the bouncy castle. She used plastic solid color table cloths and on the side tables she bought plastic super hero table clothes and folded them to be a runner down the middle. Blue had Spiderman.
Yellow had Iron Man. We had to use table clips to keep them in place because as you can see it was a bit windy.
On the center table she made a centerpiece. She used 2 foam blocks (Dollar Store) and then she printed out some cityscapes from the file she bought and we taped them around the blocks. Added 2 starts on skewers and some white tissue paper for clouds.
I love this pic! To keep the balloons in the center piece we tied them to some golf tees and pushed them into the foam blocks, it worked perfect and they held even through the wind!
Now over to the ‘bowling area’ we go.
Last year at the end of summer she scored these 2 bowling sets on clearance, they worked perfect for this project! The Silhouette was used to cut the masks out and they were attached with tape. The Strike sign is the letters and a pow taped onto a piece of small poster board.
Onto the food!
Foil wrapped corn dogs were placed in the red bucket right before it was time to eat. She also had a silver bucket on the floor near the table filled with ice and inside were juice boxes and little bottles of water.
I love these little frames with the vintage comic book prints. She printed the pictures out from online and then put them in IKEA frames. The frames were 99 cents each.
The goodie bags were stored in a cute red wicker basket. She found the coloring books at Michaels. Used the print & cut with the Silhouette for the goodie bag tags.
The masks were too cute and were a hit! The file was purchased online and she then and them printed at the UPS store. It was 49 cents per color copy (2 per page except for Captain America ones, then only 1 per page) but the quality was amazing. They looked like something you would’ve bought from the store. Cut them out, and used a punch for the eyes, hole punched each side and attached elastic to each one.
Even we had fun with them!
Then there was the FUN table! The superheros on square blocks were printed from the UPS store, again they looked amazing, like she had bought them in a party kit. Attached to a skewer and put in a foam covered block (again Dollar Store).
The ‘Create a Superhero’ was soooo cute! The Silhouette was used to cut out all the parts (body, capes, masks, hair, ect) and each child got to design their own! Sticker letters if they wanted a letter on their superhero. In the first picture you can see that each part was put in it’s own bowl to make it easier for the kids to choose what they wanted. The kids LOVED this!
Some finished Superheros staying safe until it was time to go home.
I think they turned out so cute and it was neat to see how each kid chose to design their Superhero.
Coloring sheets were printed and crayons were in an a cute tin easy to tote bucket. These were a hit as well!
We designed Birthday Invites for the party, I think they turned out cute but I’m biased 😉
So, So, SO sad that the Superhero party was my last one to be in Alabama and help with, I’m gonna miss those late ‘crazy’ project nights getting stuff ready!
Hope you enjoyed the pics and maybe even got some inspiration for a future party.
SUCH A COOL PARTY! (pardon my screaming, but that’s enough to make me want to throw a super hero party some year!) So, so cool!
She’s awesome! If you need ideas you know where to find her ;p
Do you mind sharing where you got the “Create Your Own Superhero” cutout files from to use with the Silhouette? I would love to make them for my son’s superhero party this weekend if possible. Thanks!!! Wonderful ideas!!!
I’m not sure where she got the files, which is why I didn’t post the link 🙁 She’s in Disney World this week too. I know they were some sort of paper doll files, so maybe you can find them.
I was wondering where she got the files for the centerpieces?
Try looking on Etsy.
Hi, i have the same question…. if you could share “Create Your Own Superhero” cutout files from to use with the Silhouette? Thanks!
Unfortunately I do know know what the file was as it was my friend who did them. I think they had to use several files and modify them to use them with the Silhouette.
