Well things are kicking into high gear around here! And for us that means chaos abounds as well ;p I just wanted to give you an update on the move process in case it’s a bit quiet on here at times. I am trying to stay on top of posting and once we get to TLF I’m sure I’ll be bored out of my mind & can keep things rolling along 🙂
PCSing in general is crazy, PSCing during a government shutdown is much more so! Gotta love the timing….sigh. For us things are still moving along because we already have orders cut and they were cut in fiscal year 2013, so all is going forward as planned. Although I’m quite sure there will be a few hiccups, as there always seems to be.
Up next we will be shipping our car next week from Atlanta, so we’ll only have 1 vehicle for just over a month, that ought to be tricky as it’s a bit crazy now with 2 vehicles and 3 drivers, yikes!
Then we are packing out in T minus 18 days! It sure is creeping up fast and I still have a few projects to get finished! Yard sale this weekend & having to sell our fridge & washer/dryer very soon.
Hotels/TLF are booked, shuttles reserved, Packers are scheduled, Tickets are booked, so the ‘big’ stuff is taken care of, just trying to get all the little stuff knocked out.
Which means we’ll be in TLF and staying there for around 2 weeks, with our 3 kids and a dog and EVERYTHING we need to live with for the next 1-2 months! Not to mention it all has to fit in suitcases! Plus it’s getting COLD in Germany, gonna be a huge change from our AL winter. Don’t worry I’ll take pictures and document the chaos!
My mom came down to visit, we hadn’t seen her in 4 years! We had a great time but were going non-stop the majority of the time and before we knew it, it was time for her to go home.
Then this past week on Thursday, Homecoming of course, Boo got a bad migraine at 4 pm. He was at school hanging out with his teammates and coaches before they were to play their football game. When we got to him at 5:30 pm he was literally rolling on the floor in the coaches room soaked in sweat! We tried all the meds and fixes we knew and when they didn’t even start to help I knew it was time to get him to the Dr. We drove to the nearest PriMed and they gave him torridal that didn’t even touch the pain. The Dr. then sent him via ambulance to Montgomery to get a CAT scan. Thankfully the CAT scan came back clear and the cocktail of meds they gave him at the ER finally gave him some relief, 4 hours after it all started 🙁 That was by far the worse ‘migraine’ he’s ever had and I hate to think about him away at college having to deal with this stuff, ugh.
Boo finally getting relief and able to open his eyes & interact after a nice does of Morphine.
So of course at the end of the tunnel when things should be looking all ‘bright and happy’ for us it just means that we brace ourselves for the incoming impact of what’s around the next corner 😉 So my friends as you can see we have an adventure ahead of us, I’m super excited and yet also know it’s gonna be a wild ride! I’ll do my best to keep the posts coming but if I miss one here or there you’ll know why and I hope you’ll forgive me.

Poor guy 🙁 You do have an adventure ahead of you! From what I remember Sept 1-Oct 31st in Germany is chilly and after that it is super cold!

Thankfully we’ve lived in both Iceland and Misawa, Japan so if we can survive the winter at those 2 places Germany will be a piece of cake ;p It’s 72 here in AL today, LOL!!!

I felt the need to take a big deep breath after all of that! I hope you can find some time to relax before the real chaos begins!!
Mrs B says
Relaxing is hard to come by these days! Still squeezing in lunches with the girls, which always helps 😉
Chantal says
It’s coming quick!! So is our move!
Mrs B says
Yeah, I think y’all are a bit ahead of us in the timeline so I’m sure your BUSY!
Alex says
Morphine for a migraine?! OMG! I will never complain again about how bad mine get. Poor guy!
I’m glad that everything is moving along well. We were scared about the shutdown slowing us down also, but we just barely made it. Good luck!
Mrs B says
Morphine was just one of the 4 of the cocktail, LOL! There was also Benedryl, Atarax, and something else! Not to mention the Torridal he already had on board, it was crazy but it worked!
I’m glad you were able to beat the shutdown chaos, luckily I think the worst is over now that the government is ‘open’ for business again, LOL!!

I get really bad migraines too and actually have a chronic illness that causes them, but sometimes my hospital visits require those necessary cocktails! Always bizarre what they come up with but it works! It is chilly here but not cold yet. It’s actually supposed to be 64 tomorrow! 🙂 Looking forward to your arrival.
Mrs B says
Oh, I could so do 64! Hope it’ll hold out for us 😉 Looking forward to it too, seems like it’s coming crazy fast!

My boyfriend was stationed in Germany! I got to visit and it was absolutely amazing. He just PCSed to Montana and he misses it over there! I hope you guys enjoy it! 🙂

When we lived in Iceland we flew to Germany and drove all over for 10 days. It was during that trip that we decided that we loved it and wanted to live there. It’s taken almost 8 years but we are finally getting to do just that!

I just stumbled upon your blog and I must say it’s quite interesting and fun to read! I’m from Frankfurt/Germany, so can’t wait to read about your time over here 🙂
Mrs B says
We are excited and can’t wait to get there and start experiencing it all!
