If your visiting the Eagle’s Nest make sure to check out the Luge Sommerrodelbahn at Alpengasthof Hochlenzer which is super close, just follow the rodelbahn signs. It was about 2 km away and worth the quick stop for some fun before heading to the salt mines in Austria. It was neat for us because it was our first toboggan style rodelbahn experience.
Prices are per ride (€2,50 adult, €2 kids) or you can by combo tickets. We got the Family ticket which was 10 rides for €16 and was able to split it among all of us.
For this one you ride down and then get towed back up a steep hill. All the other ones we’ve done you get towed up and then ride down.
This one also had a speed radar so you could see how fast you were going, the boys were competing to see who could get the fastest speed. After the first curve you’ll find the radar as you zip down.
Also know that on these luge/tobbogan ones it’s a bit easier to get hurt. Make sure you keep your hands and elbows in the cart so they don’t smack the side and slow down on the curves so you don’t knock your head. Our niece flew down the first time and she knocked her head and shoulder, not permanent damage but it sure gave her a wake up call.
There is also a restroom on site, it’s just after you exit the rodelbahn or behind the cash office.
There are also tables with umbrellas to sit and watch for those who may not be riding in your group. They are on the right in the photo behind the sign/building area.
The adults had just as must fun as the kids at this stop!
