During our trip to Bastogne, Belgium for the 70th Anniversary reenactment of the Battle of the Bulge we decided to check out the 101st Airborne Museum. It was a neat stop filled with tons of history, great for you history buffs and still entertaining enough for only those mildly interested in history.

The Battle of the Bulge re-enactment weekend in Bastogne, Belgium has quite a few things going on, this year they celebrated the 70th anniversary. The Himmerod Abbey is an active monastery that is located near Spangdahlem AB in Himmerod, Germany. It’s a nice little day trip, but I’d say more suited to the warmer months. I’ve heard the restaurant & cafe there are good but we haven’t tried them yet. It’s only open one weekend each year so make sure you have it on your calendar if you want to go. This was our first year going to the Trier Christmas Market. Unfortunately I can’t say that I was super impressed but we went so I can check it off our list! I think the hardest part is the the Christmas markets are all pretty much the same and the few awesome ones we’ve seen make it hard for the ’standard’ ones to live up too, LOL!
