The 3rd day of our trip Paris we spent out at Versailles France. We drove there from our hotel near the Disney Paris area and spent a few hours there before driving home (back to the Spangdahelm area). We visited Chateau de Versailles, The Trianon Palaces, and Domaine de Marie-Antoinette. We were there for just under 4 hours, it it’s somewhere you could easily spend the whole day if you wanted.

During our trip to Paris a MUST see was the Eiffel Tower! We also decided to check out the views from it as well. If you’ve been reading the blog then you know we visited the Eiffel Tower on our Day 2 in Paris.
We first made a stop at Trocadero to get the ‘best view in the city’ of the Eiffel Tower according to Rick Steves’ & other sources. I have to say it’s quite a great view!

Paris is so huge that I’ve had to spread our trip out over several posts, I recently posted about our Day 1 in Paris, France and also the Louvre, Notre Dame and Getting To and Around Paris. Today I share our Day 2 we spent in Paris. Luckily we slept much better after Day 1 wore us out and we had a bit more energy starting the morning.

We’re not big museum people but of course since we were in Paris we HAD to visit the Louvre. Don’t get me wrong I like to go look at the stuff it’s just that museums are not at the top of our ‘sightseeing list’ and I didn’t feel the need visit several of them in one visit. On our way drive to Paris we decided to make a stop in Metz, France. It’s only 1.5 hours from Spangdahlem and has the gorgeous Saint Etienne Cathedral as well as many other things to see and explore. Note if you plan on seeing the museum, Centre Pompidou-Metz, it is closed on Tuesdays. Saint Etienne Cathedral was built from 1220 to 1552, it has one of the highest Gothic edifices in Europe. I was way more impressed with this cathedral than Saint Martin’s Cathedral (The Dom) in Mainz that everyone says is a must see. While walking through Saint Etienne the enormity of this cathedral from its vaulted ceilings to the endless panes of stained glass left me in awe. Definitely one of [Read more…]
