Sunset near the Castle
Let me preface this and say I personally have always found ‘Disney’ to be overrated but the kids enjoy it so that’s why we go 🙂
Getting to Tokyo Disney:
You can drive with directions provided by New Sanno or ITT, but be forewarned the directions do not include reverse directions. With that being said we were easily able to follow the directions to Disney at 8:30 [Read more…]
Tokyo Disney & Disney Sea Series Part 2
Where to stay in Tokyo?
We have stayed at the New Sanno as well as the Palm & Fountain Terrace hotel, which is a Japanese hotel.

New Sanno Hotel – stayed in April 2007
It’s a great hotel for military families, the cost is based on rank and for us was approx. $35/night which is super cheap for Tokyo. The hotel itself is really nice. It has several resturants, a tiny [Read more…]
Tokyo Disney & Disney Sea Series Part 1

We have been fortunate enough to have visited Tokyo twice during the 3 years we’ve lived here in Japan. We have drove down one time and taken the train down once, driving was by far the preferred method. Our first visit we stayed at the military hotel New Sanno and our 2nd visit we stayed at a Japanese hotel, Palm & Fountain Terrace Hotel, near Disney. The first trip we went to both Tokyo [Read more…]
Creepy Figures on Floats from Misawa Summer Festival
I’m not sure why the Japanese have scary demonlike figures on their floats at festivals. Here a few creepy pics from the other night. Normally the dragons are pretty neat looking but this one looked a bit possessed.
Baby Octopus…A Tasty Treat?!
It always amazes (and kinda freaks me out) to see the Japanese walking around munching on baby octopus. I’ve seen it on a stick and the Misawa Summer Festival I seen in on some sort of omelet. Here are the pictures:

50th Misawa Summer Festival 2008
We headed right out the gate last night to watch the 50th Misawa Summer festival floats parade, sadly it is our last one as we are moving soon. I got to practice my taking pictures in the dark skills and was happy with the results. We ate our favorites: Yakatori (chicken on a stick), crepes, french fries, and bananas on a stick covered with chocolate & sprinkles.
Boo got to meet up with some of [Read more…]
TMO Furniture
It arrived, it finally arrived! They showed up around 3:30 pm yesterday. I was taking a nap because I woke up fighting off sinus issues yesterday and Bea crawled in bed with me and fell asleep…I knew something wasn’t right…she doesn’t take naps. So I got up and took her temp and yep it was 101.4 but she said she felt fine so I was glad for that.
We’re feeling better this morn but will be making [Read more…]
Pack Out Day! 100th Post!
Wow this is my 100th post!
Yesterday (Wed) & today (Thurs) were supposed to be pack-out days, but for those who know us know anything we do always involves an adventure style aspect to it, LOL! Due to the incredible speed and work ethic of the Japanse packers/movers they were able to pack-out our entire lives (minus 1300 lbs of stuff we need until we move) in 8 hours! There were 5 workers here to [Read more…]
Before Pack Out Move Pics
Wow, tomorrow is Pack out day! We’ve spent the past 2 days in full force getting ready. So you might be wondering what in the world are they getting ready if the military pays for movers to pack everything up and move it all? Basically we are shipping the majority of our stuff tomorrow, which is called our household goods, and will ship our unaccompanied baggage at the end of Sept. So bascially [Read more…]
Crawdads at the Park
We found this park last summer, we were originally headed there because we were told that it had turtles. We didn’t find any turtles but lots of crawdads, and for my kids who have never seen a crawdad (me either!) this was a neat experience. There was also a Japanese dad & his son there fishing for them so it was neat to watch them as well. The Japanese boy even gave a crawdad to Bubby. The biggest [Read more…]
