We were lucky enough to live in Keflavik, Iceland from Sept. 2003 to Sept. 2005, it was an AMAZING experience!
Recently on Traveling group that I’m in on FB people have been talking about traveling to Iceland, which prompted to me to dig out the information that I had left from our travels there. And yes, sure enough, I did indeed have some information. I’ve decided to scan the info and save it so that it can be available to others, because I know when I’m researching a trip I LOVE to get all the information possible!
The Iceland information can be found in my Dropbox here: Iceland You can download, print, etc or save in your own free Dropbox account and have access to it from any computer, It’s super easy to sign up for a free account.
I do think that one day I’d love to go back and visit Iceland again, we traveled a LOT during our 2 years there and really enjoyed exploring caves, glaciers, geysers, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and all the amazing things that Iceland has to offer! It’s VERY family friendly as we did all our travels with 3 kids who were 6 years, 2.5 years, and 4 months when we arrived. We started traveling the first weekend there with some amazing friends we met on the flight over!
Here are a few photos of our time there:
Blue Lagoon, it’s a neat experience, we went many times, you can read more about it on their website The water is supposed to be great for people with skin conditions as well.
Gullfoss, look how tiny the people are! It’s a must see!
Skogafoss, we visited this waterfall many times because it was the closest to where we lived, so all family who came to visit got to see this one as well.
Loved seeing the black sand beaches! It was truly unique!
Cabins we stayed in on way to Glacier Lagoon. They even had ‘hot pots’ (ie hot tub that you filled up with naturally hot water from a hose!) for us to relax in.
Glacier Lagoon It was so neat to see these large chunks of ice floating along in the lagoon. It’s really surreal and hard to explain if you just haven’t seen it.
While the kids were so young that they don’t remember much of Iceland I hope that one day they will have the chance to go back and experience it again!
