When I seen pics online of the Schiessentümple Cascade & Bridge which is part of the Mullerthal Trail in Luxembourg I knew we had to go check it out! We were able to combine it with the Beaufort Castle to make it an easy day trip. The cascade/bridge is only a 45 minute drive from Spangdahlem & 1.5 hours from Ramstein. It’s in the ‘little Switzerland’ area of the Luxembourg so the scenery is great as well.
It’s an easy scenic drive out to the area. The parking area is 500 meters past the bridge to the left, you’ll see the blue P signs. There’s a good bit of parking but if you go on a busy day it could be tight spots. Note there are no restroom facilities in the area so plan ahead.
After your parked you can either choose to walk straight down the sidewalk to the bridge which is helpful for less mobile folks if you have them in your group.
Or you can walk over to the info sign and take the more fun and adventurous trail the 0.5k to the cascade & bridge.
We choose to use the trail and explore around the way, there are some great scenic spots and lots of fun places to take photos.
Fun path to explore!
There are some neat rock structures along the path!
There is also another smaller cascade further up towards the car park area, but you can’t see it from the road.
Once you get to the bridge there is a path to walk down behind it as well as one to walk down in front of it.
We explored both and then on the front area we crossed the stream to get to the big rock to take some photos.
Then you can cross the bridge and walk down the sidewalk a bit where the trail then picks up again to get more photos and/or continue on the trail. You can also continue on the trail past the parking area and you’ll see an abandoned building that is falling apart. You can hike & explore as much as you’d like the trail is 37 km long, we just spent an hour in the area close to the falls for this trip.
After we were finished here we drove the 11 minutes to Beaufort Castle to check it out. It was a great way to get out of the house and spend a few hours checking out some neat sights.
