While it’s always super exciting to move overseas, at least for us, this is our first time we are having to actually live off base and live like the local culture and we’ve found there are quite a few differences! There are many differences living in Germany compared to Stateside life, even more so when you live off base. Living the authentic German lifestyle is very different that living in a house [Read more…]

If you live in Germany you have got to try out a Barefoot Park! Ever since I read about them before moving here I have wanted to try one, and we got to a few weeks ago! We had so much fun, even Bub, who does not like being barefoot 😉

Trier Mutterhaus – German ER Visit
Well we made it 6 months without having our first visit to the ER, I do say that’s a record for us 😉 We went to Trier Mutterhaus, which has a really long name: Klinikum Mutterhaus der Borromäweinnen, for our first ER experience. It’s about 34 mins away from Spangdahlem BUT is the hospital that has the dedicated pediatric ER. I’d much rather drive a little bit further for top quality pediatric care [Read more…]

The park was recently revamped and had a grand opening a few [Read more…]

Burg Eltz – Munstermaifeld, Germany

This past weekend we went out to Burg Eltz after hearing all the talk and ‘hype’ that it was a must see. Even according to Rick Steves’ it is favorite castle in Europe, so of course it had to be near the top of my ‘must-see’ list. Plus it was another place to cross off the Panther Paws day trip list, along with Burg Pyrmont. Needless to say my expectations were set pretty high and I have to say I [Read more…]

Eiscafe Dolomiti – Eating Eis in Germany

So everyone here has been raving about eating Eis (ice cream) at Eiscafe Dolomiti in Speicher so we had to go try it out. They even offer ‘spaghetti’ ice cream that looks like spaghetti noodles. It’s located at Bahnhofstrasse 3 in Speicher right before City Grill. It’s open daily from 10 am to 10 pm!

Just look for the blue sign, there is also a large ice cream cone outside the door as well.
