We were looking for a place to eat along the parkway and we’d seen the Best Italian Restaurant, then we asked for recommendations at the Visitor’s center and the lady told us it was good, so off we went! We were wanting to visit a locally owned place and not a ‘chain’ because you can visit those anywhere, this place fit the bill.

We’ve been trying a new vegetable each week and making it 2 or 3 different ways to see if we can find some new ways too incorporate veggies (which we don’t love) into our meals. This week was broccoli and we had some great success!

This past week we took a mini-vacation to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, TN. It was our first time to the area and I’ll be posting about our trip spread out over the next 2 weeks. We’ve been told that we HAD to eat at Chris’ Hot Dogs, it’s supposedly a must-do for those coming through Montgomery, AL. It originally opened in 1917 and is still open today! With that being said it’s one of those hole in the wall or Mom & Pop places so don’t expect anything fancy.

My friend’s birthday is the 4th of July and since her hubby is deployed I wanted to make her a yummy treat! I decided to do Red Velvet Cupcakes with an Almond Bark blue star garnish to go with the whole Red, White, & Blue theme.

The Visitor’s Center in downtown Montgomery, AL is located in Union Station, the old train station. It is very close to the Riverwalk entrance.
